Many a times parents are unhappy with their school going children on the point of class participation. They receive regular complaints from the school teachers that their child does not participate actively in the class.
Well, lets view class participation from the sudents' angle.
A child in growing age, aprt from physical growth which is very evident from his physique is also undergoing rapid changes on the mind level. Largely the child's mind is occupied by the academic pressure. Morning till evening, the student is busy with studies. Some students ( the front deskers ) are normally seen to be very active and participative in the class as against the back benchers.
As a student you might just not be interested in a subject, which pulls your mind's strings out of the class and jump into the world of your own. Or your natural instinct makes you keep away from participating actively in your class.
Well, in both cases, you are getting affected. Its like, raining outside but you could not get anything because your cup of tea was not upside!
I do not say that you are wrong in your attitude or you need some counselling. Already you must have got good lessons from your parents in this regard.
I just want to see yourself from a new angle in a new framework. Once you feel yourself in the new framework, things look changed. Thats it!
